What is going on? It seems like one decades-old garage-oriented band after another is dropping new releases, often after long hiatuses, and doing so gloriously. In the past few months alone, we’ve covered new music from the likes of  The Okmoniks, Fastbacks, The BellRays, The Fleshtones, The Dictators, and Nervous Eaters — and they’ve all been well worth both our time and a few extra dimes.

Now, Scared of Chaka is back with a two-song 7” called Bated Breath on Slovenly, their first new music in over 20 years. And wouldn’t you know it? Both tracks are excellent, powerful, and catchy garage stompers. Scared of Chaka is back, reminding us how much fun they were and are, ready to let the good times roll again.
