These are great times for rock ‘n’ roll devotees. Not only is there no shortage of up-and-coming talents who opt for guitar, bass or drums instead of a computer, but there are also countless veterans who made their mark long ago but can’t get enough of it. That also applies to Boston’s punk rockers Nervous Eaters, who started in the late 70s but are now back with their next album, which bears the all-telling title Rock n Roll Your Heart Away. Band founder Steve Cataldo knows how to write and perform a song, and here he hands over ten new pieces of evidence that are as high-powered and energetic as they are infectious and irresistible (co-produced by Little Steven, and you can hear that). This is good old rock music to dance to, full of hooks, heavy guitars, melodic keys and catchy choruses, what’s not to like?
Rock n Roll Your Heart Away, produced by Steve Cataldo, Brad Hallen and Stevie Van Zandt, is out on CD through Wicked Cool Records. Featuring songwriter Steve Cataldo (lead vocals, lead guitars, keyboards, percussion), Carissa Johnson (bass, vocals, percussion), Adam Sherman (guitars, vocals), David McLean (drums, percussion) and Jim Sullivan (piano, organ), with additional musicians Brooks Milgate (piano, organ), Jack Gauthier (vocals) and Lou Cataldo (vocals).
