New single: Stark Folk Band || Standing In the Kitchen

Dayton, Ohio’s Stark Folk Band returns with a two-track digital release that is too remarkable not to share. The opening song is a “band version” of fan favorite Standing In the Kitchen (previously heard on their self-titled debut LP from 2008, then as Stark Folk), recorded after drinking cold beers in the hot sun sometime last summer at singer Brady Burkett’s country estate. Probably influenced by the alcohol (and by V.3’s Photograph Burns that they had listened to), but these 7 minutes wonderfully reflect the connecting and cheerful role that music always had and will have – a magical moment, captured unpolished, as if you were there yourself. Brand new B-side What It’s All About is a straightforward banger, energetic and exciting, that shows just how good these guys are. Original neo-psychedelic garage rock that I can’t get enough of.

Standing In the Kitchen, recorded & mixed by Ryan Douglas Shaffer, is out now digitally via Fireside Union Records / Old 3C Records Label Group. Featuring Brady Lee Burkett (acoustic guitar, vocals), Ryan Douglas Shaffer (electric guitar, backing vocals), Dave Jurcsisn (bass, backing vocals) and Jeremy Malchow (drums, tambourine, backing vocals), with Miles Curtiss (backing vocals), S-Douglas (organ), Mike “Rep” Hummel (backing vocals) and Jeff Robertson (backing vocals) guesting on the title track.
