Lapdog debuted five years ago with an eponymous album, now followed by the Marina LP. We’re talking about the dorm room blues project of Fisher Huish from Salt Lake City, Utah. His ten new songs are an intriguing mix of jangly indie pop, dreamy slacker rock, psychedelic yacht rock, summery floor fillers, and jazzy lounge bar music, if that makes any sense. Either way, we hear hazy vocals over shimmering guitars and spacey synths, a sun-drenched blend of groove and glow—a seductive (and original) score for sultry circumstances.
Marina is out digitally via Milk Factory Records.
