Christopher Sleightholm (of Blue Fantasy, Snake River, The Sunshiny Daze) loves summer so much he wrote an entire album about it. Still Summer is a warm, laid-back blend of jangle, power pop, psych, country, and other classic guitar pop flavors. It’s clear that Sleightholm associates summer with timeless melodies, daydreams, and moments of rocking out under the sun.

This is one of those under-the-radar records that might slip by unnoticed—but really shouldn’t. The songwriting is sharp throughout, with highlights like the jangly power pop gems Summer Eyes and Records, the tuneful 3-minute jangle psych pop of Going Solo, and the ambitious closer Psychedelic Ghost Train.

Sleightholm mostly plays everything himself, with support from the Beautiful Band (Ian Cameron and Andy Beisel) on about half the tracks.

Still Summer is out now and makes the season feel even sweeter.
