Some songs hit you like a first crush. When I heard Ryli’s debut single, I was smitten. Now that the full-length has arrived, I’m happy to report: this isn’t just flirty playlist fodder—it’s full-blown relationship material.

Come and Get Me includes that first crush (I Think I Need You Around) and then some. There’s jangle and shimmer, but also a melancholic undertow that keeps things grounded. It’s classic indie pop in the best way: warm, melodic, a little sad, and deeply comforting. All of these qualities shine in the beautiful vocals of Yea-Ming Chen, backed by the collective experience of the band’s members (R.E. Seraphin, Healing Potpourri, Sonny & The Sunsets, and more).

There are highlights all over this record. Opener Medicine Speed immediately shows Ryli’s knack for subtle, tasteful arrangements—sounding familiar while avoiding obvious moves. Punchy tracks like Bad July and Friend Collector hit that sweet spot between ass-shakin’, hip-swayin’, and head-boppin’. The title track nails that melancholic Alvvays-esque vibe, while Break comes with a guitar lick you could ride like a wave all day. And slow-burners like Downtown and Silent Color may stream gently, but they claw their way under your skin.

These are songs built with care and chemistry—a beautifully crafted indie pop record made by people who truly get it. When albums this good come out, you just know it’s going to be a great year for indie pop.
