New York-based garage rock outfit The Mystery Lights are back with a 45 that recalls the energy and excitement of their early days. A-side Before You Realize It is a short but powerful hit song with catchy rhythms and shout-along gang vocals. On B-side Cerebral Crack—taken from last fall’s Purgatory LP—they slow down the pace, but they more than compensate with sinister lyrics (“How would you know if you’d lost your mind?”), and haunting riffs.
