The Melbourne-based new wavers of Radio Free Alice follow up their amazing self-titled debut EP with the equally compelling Polyester EP, exploring modern human relationships. The four new songs – 2010, Johnny, Spain and On The Ground – have that typical Australian sound with jangly guitars and hypnotic bass lines, but also sun-kissed synths, semi-nonchalant vocals and attractive harmonies. The opening track in particular is addictive, partly thanks to the memorable lyrics: “I saw your name on the wall of a bathroom stall // I wrote mine too underneath in a frantic scrawl // Is it a waste of time?” Graceful and vibrant.
Polyester, produced by Radio Free Alice and Nao Anzai, is out now streaming via Double Drummer.
