Ready for some “twangin’ rock-‘n’-roll from Portland, Oregon”? Lonesome Cowboy Iz (guitar, vocals), Lee Butterfield (guitar, vocals), Penny Olives (bass, percussion), and Ana Diaz Sacco (drums) have crafted something that’s right up your alley. Their band Cruise Control just dropped a two-song single that hints at great things to come.
The lead track is a delightful, uptempo country-pop song with a Velvet Underground-esque rock ‘n’ roll flair and a vocal delivery that has distant notes of Courtney Barnett. The song is to appear on the band’s upcoming (yet to be announced) album. The B-side is a re-recorded version of 7th Wheel from their 2022 debut album. Both songs mark a departure from the lo-fi acoustic nature of the band’s earlier work – a move I can fully get behind and one that makes me very curious about their new album!
