New album: The Caezars || The Caezars

After a hiatus of about ten years, British rock ‘n’ roll band The Caezars are back with their fourth full-length album, a self-titled one. Back In The Jungle, as they call it in the opening track, which we already heard as the flipside of a 7″ single from the beginning of this year. Aaron Denning, Danny Dawkins, James Bowen and Michael Crowley also deliver some other new original songs, a new version of their 2012 tune Heartache Overload, plus covers of Lovin’ Up A Storm (Jerry Lee Lewis), I’m A Mad Man (Willie Ward & The Warblers), Dirty Robber (The Wailers), and an amazing alternative take on Lou Lou Knows (Fonda Wallace with The Four Pals), in my opinion the standout track here. The album was recorded as they did in the late 50s: live onto tape, the tape straight onto lacquer, and then pressed up with no transferring to a computer in the process. That pays off: this surfy rockabilly sounds as authentic, energetic and sweaty as can be.

The Caezars’ self-titled album is out now digitally and on vinyl LP through Folc Records.
