“Cool as can be,” I raved about the Catch Me EP with which The Mochines marked their return in 2022. Those four songs have now been brought together with seven worthy others on the album Modern Information. Curt Florczak (vocals, guitar), Ross Kersten (vocals, guitar), Hans Molnar (bass) and Sean Antillon (drums) make the three covers – Catch Me (Jetz), Private Affair (The Saints) and This is Rock and Roll (The Kids) – their own in such a way that they fit seamlessly between the original tunes. What I noted at the time still applies to this extended release: “Energetic and catchy, dirty and gritty, somewhere on the cutting edge of garage rock, punk and power pop, very infectious.”
