New album: The Smoggers || My Last Rock ’n’ Roll

Last week, Spanish garage rock outfit The Smoggers released a pretty cool 7″ on Chaputa! Records, featuring covers of She’s Wicked (The Fuzztones) and Strychnine (The Sonics), this week they put out a new full-length on Soundflat Records, with ten original tunes. My Last Rock ’n’ Roll, their eight studio album, sounds exactly as you expect: raw and primitive and fuzzy and gritty and haunting. Yet the band – Fernando Jiménez (vocals, harmonica), Ana González (organ, backing vocals), Antonio León (guitar, backing vocals), Oscar Valero “Mufas” (bass, backing vocals) and David Martín (drums, percussion, backing vocals) – continues to develop and each subsequent record has slightly different influences and twists. But don’t worry, the basics remain: vocals, organ, guitars and drums compete to sound the dirtiest and loudest, an exciting battle.

My Last Rock ‘n’ Roll, produced by The Smoggers and Máximo Ruiz Bandera, is out now on vinyl LP through Soundflat Records.
