New EP: The 5.6.7.8’s / The Masonics || Japan Tour EP

Tokyo’s The 5.6.7.8’s (founded in 1986) and Medway’s The Masonics (1991) have been friends for longer than they can remember, and last month they went on tour together in Japan. A good reason for the ever-reliable UK label Spinout Nuggets to bring them together on a physical four track-EP to accompany the ten nights over there. For this purpose both bands recorded a cover and an original. Below you can hear raucous garage rock versions of The Beatles’ Help by The 5.6.7.8’s and The Damned’s New Rose by The Masonics, which would not have been out of place in our monthly Dusted feature. Their own songs, Daddy Goes Out Jail and You’ve Been Warned respectively, are also wild and exciting and wantlist-worthy, as we have come to expect from these heroes.

The Japan Tour EP is out now digitally and on limited 7″ vinyl through Spinout Nuggets.
