New album: Ole Kirkeng || Still Not Lost

After living and working in New York, and touring with Courtney Marie Andrews, Molly Tuttle and The Delines, Norwegian songsmith Ole Kirkeng returned to his native country full of inspiration. His debut EP Rocking Chair (2021) was well received, and you don’t have to be a fortune teller to predict that this will also apply to first full-length Still Not Lost. In just over half an hour we hear eight fascinating stories about interpersonal relationships, a beautiful trip through the artist’s thoughts – along Memory Avenue you could say, as it is so beautifully expressed in one of these appealing Americana songs. As my favorite track Mutual Friend unfolds, for example: “There’s a friend of mine asking about a friend of mine // Perhaps the three of us could all hang out some time.” It’s the lyrics that demand the most attention, but the melodies and vocals are just as compelling.

Still Not Lost, produced by Geir Sundstøl & Ole Kirkeng, is out now digitally and on vinyl LP through Die With Your Boots On Records.
