Fraser of The Murderburgers has picked up his axe again, writing and recording music under the Wrong Life moniker. Following two EPs, Wrong Life’s self-titled debut LP dropped this week – a co-release by five trusted suppliers of quality punkrock: Brassneck (UK/EU) & Rad Girlfriend (US) have the LP-release. Limited Fun (UK/EU) and Waterslide (Japan) do the CD-release, and finally, Cat’s Claw (UK/EU) have the record on Tape.
If that is not a stamp of approval, I’m not sure what is. And indeed, fans of melodic and poppy punk rock should take note of this record. The Wrong Life LP for me was a bit like sitting on a train taking up speed. It took me a couple of songs to get into it, but once it gets going it’s smooth sailing. Perhaps this is personal, but the sequencing made me enjoy this LP a little more with each track.
There was a time when I wrote about melodic punkrock hardly at all, and now twice in one day. And earlier this year as well with releases by Vanilla Blue, Mark Murphy and The Meds, Tweejy and Hummin’ Bird. It’s only February but this looks to be a great year for this brand of punk rock. I like it!
