Releases I Overlooked In 2022

I took some time browsing the end of the year content online. It was a blast, and as always, I found several releases I either missed, forgot or too quickly dismissed. Below are some 2022 releases we didn’t write about, but probably should have.

Cave People || Wind Burn
Poppy Indie rock from Boston with members of Golden Apples, Marge, Eight, and Goshupon.

End It || Unpleasant Living EP
What an extremely fun and exciting 8 minutes of hardcore punk!

First Born || Outsider Pop

Gritty outsider pop punk from Chicago.

John Larson And The Silver Fields || Mile A Minute
Timeless power pop record from Rhode Island.

Juggling Jugulars || Who’s Talking? EP

Nice EP by these punk veterans from Finland. Just Another Band is a hell of an anthem.

The Remote Controls || The Remote Controls
Throwback ’90s poppy punkrock.

Riverby || Absolution
Not sure whether I missed this one, or dismissed it. You need only one song to unlock an open mind to a record though, and Birth By Sleep is that song.

Sadurn || Radiator

Haunting, powerful and gorgeous indie folk debut. The voice of Genevieve de Groot makes you drop everything and listen to this record front-to-back.

The Schizophonics || Hoof It
I have no idea how we missed this exciting mix between The Sonics and The Stooges.

Steve Rosenbaum || Have A Cool Summer! Summer-Pop Demos And 4-Track Gems 1979-1989

To be fair, I did not overlook this one, but it took me some time to finally check it out. This collection of demos showcases a songwriter’s ability to write near perfect guitar and power pop songs.

The Sundries || Full of the Joys of Spring and Magic Johnson EPs

Sunny and upbeat indie pop from London. The Sundries released two EPs in 2022 that will get a combined release on Subjangle early 2023.

Ultrabomb || Time To Burn
Greg Norton (Hüsker Dü), Finny McConnell (Mahones), and Jamie Oliver (UK Subs) sound inspired on this collection of high octane powerful emotional punk tunes.
