New album: The Street Carnations || Try It Out

The Real Kids, Cheap Trick, The Beatles, The dB’s, Paul Collins, The Only Ones, Flamin’ Groovies – the references that American four-piece The Street Carnations have collected in a Spotify playlist are great sources of inspiration. On their full-length debut album Try It Out, this results in sympathetic rattle rock, 8 songs in 27 minutes, power pop with hints of garage or psych. The music and vocals – they all sing – of songwriter Josh Bartrug (guitar), Anna Littlejohn (keys), Connor Bowen (bass), Chris Desien (drums) are a bit shaky, as if recorded live at a house party on a yacht, but more importantly,: always enthusiastic, vibrant, catchy and entertaining.

“Mmm yeeessssss.” The statement with which the video for Gets Better kicks off, actually is a great two word review for this LP. What a fun band!

Out now digitally (self-released).
