Like most Fridays, there were many new releases today. Most of what I’ve listened so far didn’t really click with me though, but after the first 15 seconds of The Rebel Set’s new (4th) full-length album Modern Living, I knew it was going to be a good day after all. Don’t be fooled by the title of the opening track (Gonna Be No Fun), or that of the third song on the record (The Party’s Over,) because these 12 songs are pure fun that will get any party started. This Phoenix, Arizona’s four-piece – guitar, bass, drums, plus organ in a starring role – play summery garage rock with hints of surf and beat.
