Isn’t It Obvious? Yes, it is. The latest EP from Australian indie rock quartet Peach Fuzz—Lucinda Gray (vocals), Ben La (guitar, vocals), Lewis Rich (bass), and James La (drums)—could very well be their big breakthrough. They have the looks, the sound, the art, and each of the six new songs has everything it takes to be a radio hit.
The lyrics are a whirlwind of young, messy emotions—full of longing, joy, rage, tenderness, and everything in between. The record opens with regret and yearning (Fall Right Back to You), to continue with the carefree buzz of connection (Carpool). From there, the gloves come off, with bitterness and catharsis (Wish U Were Never Born, Push It Away), dishonesty and hidden cruelty (Whole World Fooled), ending on a surprisingly tender note (Cow Song). These are all hooky anthems that beg to be screamed back in sweaty rooms, probably by an even younger audience.
