Their new album love songs and spiritual recollections stitches together woozy psychedelic folk, dream-soaked indie pop, and bedroom-art-rock, blending nostalgia and noise, tenderness and tension. Idiosyncratic melodies, down-to-earth vocals, and heavenly harmonies drift into bittersweet romantic haze, different from usual but strangely comforting. These twelve songs don’t reveal themselves immediately (hence arriving here fashionably late), but give it a few spins and its extraordinary little world becomes impossible to leave. My Stars Aligning in particular could/should be a big hit, an emotional rollercoaster with the potential to get packed festival grounds singing along loudly (“Ahhhhhhhhh”).
