Dublin trio Soft On Crime may have a contrarian band name, and while their songs flirt with familiar indie rock DNA (yes, the Guided By Voices comparisons continue to write themselves), the fun is how unpredictably they put those pieces together. You never quite know where the next track will go—only that there’s about an 85% chance you’ll love it too. Or make that 100% if we’re talking about their new 5-song EP Noz Mat.

This is scruffy, slightly psych-leaning, hook-sharp guitar pop that sounds effortless in all the right ways. We’ve covered Soft On Crime before, and something tells me we’ll be doing it again. They make it far too easy.
