New EP: The Singing Loins || Camber ’87

A ragged resurrection that hums with Medway soul

Since their formation as an acoustic duo in 1990, Medway’s The Singing Loins have undergone quite a development and expansion, both in sound and line-up. Three years ago, their singer, Chris Broderick, passed away—having stated that he didn’t want this to be the end of the group, the remaining band members continued doing what they do best. And so they take another step further on this new mini album, Camber ’87.

The compelling opening track Teeth & Eyes is brand new, the other five songs concern older work, translated into the raw folk punk style of today. Soul seeps through every crack: the voice gravel-deep, the strings fierce and unvarnished, all of it throbbing with honest fire.

Camber ’87—recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jim Riley—is out now digitally, on CD (with bonus live tracks) and 12″ vinyl, through Spinout Nuggets. Featuring Arfur Allen (vocals, guitar), Oli Allen (guitars, backing vocals), Brendan Esmonde (bass, backing vocals), Richard Moore (violin, backing vocals), Chris Grenfell (drums, percussion), and Rob Shepherd (banjo, mandolin, accordion, backing vocals).
