Olas de Surya is an American garage rock band featuring songwriter Marco Ferral Hernandez (guitar, vocals), Juan Pablo Jimenez Garcia (guitar), Nathalie Vieux-Gresham (bass), and Christopher Zy Li (drums). They debuted last year with the single Entre Amigos y Enemigos, and now they’re stepping up their game with the Room for One More? EP (obviously, the answer is yes to that question). The four-piece performs three raw and energetic songs reminiscent of The Strokes in their early days, with melodic guitars and gravelly vocals.

The lyrics circle around transience, repetition, and the blurry line between dreams and reality—in relationships, in art, and in everyday life. There’s a constant sense that things are both slipping away and endlessly repeating. Opening track 7AM stands out (“I forgot it’s Tuesday // By Wednesday // We lost our Monday”), but closing track Yuca shows that this sound is also a great foundation for Spanish words.
