Lars Schmidt (Subterfuge) may have started The Radio Field as a pandemic side project, but with Air and Sunlight it’s clear this band is here to stay—and sounding like the real deal on album number two.

Backed by an impressive cast of friends (from Subterfuge, Klee, Phantom Handshakes, Attic Ocean), Schmidt delivers 31 minutes of jangly guitar pop that feels like a gentle refuge: warm, melodic, and quietly uplifting. It’s music that invites introspection but still leaves you lighter on the other side. Düsseldorf might not be the first city you’d associate with this sound, yet The Radio Field bottle the essence of Melbourne, Manchester, and the Bay Area into something universal.

Highlights? Sellout and It’s Alright are immediate standouts, though each spin has me latching onto new favorites (Ride With Me! What It Takes!).
