Les Robots, the successful side project of Dave von Raven and Arjan Spies—here as D.V.R. and R-JoHN—of Dutch beat band The Kik, are back with two extraordinary tock ‘n’ roll instrumentals where guitars meet electronics. Robo Diddley and The Rockin’ Robot may not be as experimental as 2022’s Exploring the Boundaries of the Multiverse LP, but it’s safe to say that these rhythms, inspired by popular floor fillers from 60+ years ago, take on a whole new meaning—the Bo Diddley beat and the Rockin’ Goose tune never sounded so quirky and catchy.
It’s probably a matter of love it or hate it, but I think we can agree that these are times we could use a little fun—who would have thought we’d have to rely on robots for that.
