Rogue Records is kicking off 2025 strongly with the debut 45 from New York garage rockers The Knight Shades, rooted in the 60s but a sure contender for a prominent spot in the year-end list circus in 11 months’ time. A-side Why (Baby Why!) is a raw and raucous organ stomper with a melody, a beat and harmonies that are all equally irresistible, B-side Make You Mine has guitars in the leading role but is just as danceable. Fuzz and fire, skills and screams, everything. It doesn’t get much cooler than this.
