New album: Lavender Jets || Junk Room Melodies

Cleveland six-piece ready to turn some heads

Count heads, count the instruments and you start to suspect Lavender Jets are not your average garage/punk/power pop band. The Cleveland outfit has six members, and in addition to the not all that uncommon dual guitar attack, bass, drums and a frontman focusing on the vocals, the list of instruments also includes organ, saxophone, monosynth and shakers.

On record, these additional instruments are used subtly and complementary—you may even miss them if you don’t pay attention. But honestly, these tunes will likely demand your limited attention with their intricate playing and unpolished charm. Junk Room Melodies is an indie rock record that doesn’t want to get pinned down to a single subgenre. And so we get awesome punk rock tunes like Green Corvette and Lickity Split, rocking post punk tunes like Spaulding Street, slacker rock with Hot Connection, and alternative rock reminiscent of Bob Mould (B.E.V.). It’s all of high quality and I can definitely see Lavender Jets turn some heads with this one!
