New album: Vista House || They’ll See Light

Rolling roots rock with surreal storytelling

We weren’t tired of last year’s Oregon III LP, but Portland-based singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Tim Howe has moved back into Vista House, leading to new full-length They’ll See Light. It consists of eleven twangy tracks, with captivating vocals and warming melodies, that are somewhere between alt-rock and alt-country (with hints of power pop), between extrovert and introspective (an interesting field of tension). Song titles such as Appeal To Heaven, Retribution Blues and A Lightning Bird Emerges (and the cover art) reflect a different theme than the previous song cycle, but it is more surreal than serious. A laudable record, again.

They’ll See Light is out now digitally and on cassette through Anything Bagel.
