New single: Bromheads Jacket || Juiced Up

The second album was a mistake? Time for a second chance!

Bromheads Jacket are back? Bromheads Jacket are back!

We’re talking about the garage rock/post-punk trio from Sheffield, UK, whose Dits From The Commuter Belt (2006) and On The Brain (2008) have a prominent place in my CD collection, with unforgettable tunes such as What Ifs + Maybes, Poppy Bird, Fight Music For The Fight and Turn Me On (they’re one of the few bands I know whose final versions are less polished than their demos, which only makes them more likeable). I’ve seen them perform live twice back then and will never forget that, not only because of frontman Tim Hampton’s bleeding head after a failed stage dive, which he tried to top the next time by setting his guitar on fire, but also because of the intensity of their shows and songs.

Anyway, eighteen years later, seemingly out of nowhere, there is a new single, called Juiced Up (released last May, but because I’m sure I’m not the only one who missed it then, I’m still sharing it here; H/T Arthur). The lyrics are quite self-explanatory about the future and the past of the band (“Let’s try this one more time” and “The second album was a mistake”), musically it’s as raw and raucous as ever, and oh how I missed these uncompromising vocals.

To celebrate the next era of Bromheads Jacket, they also re-recorded five of their old tracks, collected on the digital Lost Fables EP. A promising new start.

Juiced Up b/w I Repeat (Goldteeth Remix) is out on vinyl 7″ and the Lost Fables EP is available as digital download (both self-released). Featuring Timothy Hampton, Jonathan “Jono” West and Joe Green.
