Kitchen People from Melbourne have been quiet of late. Not out of a desire to stop making music together, but because it was hard to get the gang together, them being busy with other projects (e.g., Ghoulies, Aborted Tortoise, Pleasants, Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice, Kosmetika). EP’24 marks the glorious return of the band, although the ’24 is kind of misleading since the songs were recorded in 2022. But regardless, a fresh batch of synthpunk slabs by Kitchen People is very welcome.
EP’24 has 6 songs that range from ferocious (Refuse 2 Grow, Control) to angular (The Plug, Low Hanging Fruit) to an extremely poppy take on protopunk (Underground Love) – the latter a must-add for the playlist you’re working on.
