Fourteen months after their strong, rich and diverse debut LP, British garage psych outfit The Dream Machine returns with their sophomore album Small Time Monsters, a vehicle for eleven new songs that are somewhat more refined and mesmerising than their first effort. Zak McDonnell (vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriting), Matthew Gouldson (lead guitar), Jack Inchboard (bass), Harrison Marsden (keys) and Isaac Salisbury (drums) mingle a smorgasbord of compelling guitar rock with bewitching lyrics on everyday life, teenage doom, B-movie monsters, family turmoil and coming-of-age tales. Fascinating music and amazing vocals, nothing to be afraid of.
