New album: The Austin No || Upward with The Austin No

This lowbeat debut LP deserves a resounding yes

The Austin No is a folk rock collective from – you guessed it – Austin, who debut with thirteen endearing tunes on their album Upward with The Austin No. They are intimate and noiseless pieces of art with jangly acoustic guitars, atmospheric piano tones and pleasant vocals, which subtly but confidently create a good mood.

The band is named after an expression for the conflict-free avoidance of requests, but we share their songs unsolicited. It’s a yes from me.

Upward with The Austin No, produced by Jeff DeMouy, is out now digitally. Featuring Kevin Carney (guitar, vocals), Steve Chapman (drums, mellotron), Jennings Crawford (bass, keyboards), Jeff DeMouy (vocals, guitar) Therese DeMouy (vocals, keyboards), Ivan Bodley (bass), and Julie McBride (accordion).
