California’s garage rock veterans Char-Man are back with a bang. After celebrating their 20th anniversary last year, these under-the-radar heroes have dropped album #4, Down On Ready, and it’s a wild ride from start to finish.
The 13-track album is a gritty garage-pop rollercoaster that sees Char-Man masterfully toe the line between raucous energy and irresistible hooks, creating a sound that’s equal parts sweaty mosh pit and sunshine-drenched earworms.
The album kicks off with a one-two punch of Right Now and Mulligan, showcasing the band’s grittier side (complete with raspy vocals). But don’t pigeonhole these guys – they can do pop too. Case in point: The Duel, an instant hit with echoes of Jacuzzi Boys that’ll be stuck in your head for days. By the time the final notes fade out, you’ll be so amped up, you’ll will skip on your coffee for the day.
Out now on Masticating Shit Records (No, we’re not making this up). Vinyl pre-order should be up soon.
