Rasco are an Israeli psychedelic garage pop/rock trio (named after Charlie Megira’s At the Rasco), featuring Eden Atiya (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Gaya Wajsman (vocals, guitars, keyboards) and Itay Levi (drums). Their sophomore album Dmaot (translated: Tears) contains eleven new songs (including a reverb-heavy cover of Tears for Fears’ 1985 single Head over Heels), full of surfy melodies and hazy harmony vocals, that are repeatedly startled by noisy guitar outbursts. Musically it’s too dark to call it sunny, and too loud to call it dreamy, and yet it’s all true. This is a cinematic and hypnotic record that suits both night and summer.
Dmaot, arranged, mixed and produced by Uri Brauner Kinrot, is out now digitally and on vinyl LP through London-based label Batov Records.
