Brooklyn, New York-based art rock/post-punk outfit Gustaf returns with their sophomore album, Package, Pt. 2 (note: their 2001 debut LP was not called Package, Pt. 1, but Audio Drag For Ego Slobs, which did contain a tune titled Package), featuring twelve new original songs in which they gained persuasiveness and urgency. Lydia Gammill (vocals), Tine Hill (bass, background vocals), Vram Kherlopian (guitar, keys, background vocals), Melissa Lucciola (drums, background vocals) and Tarra Thiessen (percussion, background vocals) deliver repetitive rhythms and matching lyrics, with charismatic talk-sung vocals that give the poetry even more expressiveness. As they themselves declaim: “Why?! // Why? // Why not? // Why? // Why not?” (from Produce (Package Pt. 2)).
Package Pt. 2, produced/mixed/engineered by Erin Tonkon, is out now digitally, on CD and vinyl LP through Royal Mountain Records.
