Sometimes you hear an unknown record and you wonder if it isn’t a lost classic or a collection of covers, sounding so familiar and convincing. Welcome to the Rest of Your Life is one of those albums that feels like a newfound friend, but is definitely brand new. You may know the band behind it: Sheffield (UK) indie rockers Little Man Tate formed in 2005 and broke up in 2009, and this is their first studio album since 2008’s Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy. The original but slightly more mature line-up of Jon Windle, Edward ‘Maz’ Marriott, Ben Surtees and Dan Fields delivers ten fresh (original!) songs with narrative and witty lyrics (for a quirky example, listen to You Rub Me Up The Wrong Way), an unstoppable blissful rhythm section and charismatic vocals. Hits galore, this is a solid comeback.
