Reno, Nevada-based garage rock four-piece The Happy Trails return with the entertaining three-track EP Clovers. The title track that opens the release is carried by a melancholic melody and dreamy vocals that are interrupted by provocative hooks (“Come on and get it!”). Then the throttle is stepped on with a mean guitar and pounding drums on the instrumental Dream, which turns out to be the prelude to the infectious pub rock stomper Half-Assed & Hungover, a hit for which the repeat button was invented.
Clovers is out now digitally via Dirty Basement Records.
