A year after their successful debut LP Big Thing, Rotterdam-based indie-folk four-piece Elephant is back without being away, releasing their sophomore album Shooting for the Moon. It’s clear that they have gained in number of fans (their sympathetic appearance and melancholic sound hits the right chord), experience (endless touring, endless playing together) and self-confidence (literally and figuratively they are more outspoken: “I hate your post-punk pretensions, your fake English accent” – from the opening track, video below). Once again you’ill hear ten elegant and tight songs with sunny melodies, inspiring guitar parts and compelling vocal harmonies. Shooting for the moon may sound ambitious, but for Elephant dreaming big isn’t unrealistic.
Shooting for the Moon, recorded and produced by Pablo van de Poel, is out now on CD and vinyl LP through Excelsior Recordings.
