The frontman explains: “I fight depression every single day, and the only way for me to fight depression is through optimism. I try to write optimistic songs because optimism keeps me going.” The eclectic and energetic music (Beck would be proud of it) plus the personal and empowering lyrics (vulnerability, party urge and life advice go together inimitably) makes this an intriguing record, which undoubtedly comes across even better on stage.
