Not only is there more new music coming out than there is time to listen to, there are also too many new releases to keep track of. Fortunately, we are regularly pointed out by readers or bands that we have wrongly overlooked a good sound. For example, this applies to the self-titled debut EP by Dancer, available since last February. They are a new Glasgow (Scotland) band with members of Current Affairs, Nightshift, Robert Sotelo and Order of the Toad, fusing compelling indie pop and arty post-punk influences into something idiosyncratic and contemporary. You’ll hear six tracks with a live feel (each song is announced as if it were a performance), carried by original drumming, atmospheric melodies and distinctive vocals. You didn’t want to miss these, right?
Dancer, recorded/mixed/mastered by Ronan Fay, is out digitally and on cassette through GoldMold Records.
