New album: Wah Wah Wah || Midnight Breakfast

Last year Niek wrote about Oh, Wow!, the debut of Wah Wah Wah, the DIY project of Suhyun Kim (vocals, guitars, bass, flute), now together with Wonseok Suh (drums), based in Seoul, South Korea. On their sophomore release Midnight Breakfast they mix influences from just about every rock genre – alternative, garage, indie, metal, psych, surf – into their own sound, that is somewhere between JEFF The Brotherhood and Thee Oh Sees. In their goofy lyrics they ask important life questions, like “How long can you hold in a fart?” (in I Am Not Dead), “I wonder if they can still make baby watermelons” (about seedless watermelons in Seedless), and “Should I bear the boredom to be an adult?” (in Growing Pains). However, what makes this record especially exciting are the catchy riffs and the audible enthusiasm of the two musicians.

Midnight Breakfast is out now digitally via Good Boy Records.
