New album: The Wolfmanhattan Project || Summer Forever and Ever

You know their names, you know their work, but what they create together is probably beyond your imagination. Singer-guitarist Mick Collins (The Dirtbombs, The Gories, Blacktop, Voltaire Brothers), singer-guitarist Kid Congo Powers (The Gun Club, The Cramps, Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds, Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds) and singer-drummer Bob Bert (Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, Lydia Lunch Retrovirus, Jon Spencer and the Hitmakers) are back with The Wolfmanhattan Project. They just released their new full-length album Summer Forever and Ever, following up on their Smells Like You 7″ (2015) and Blue Gene Stew LP (2019), featuring ten collaboratively developed songs – “It’s very much a mind-meld and a group effort” – based on spontaneous ideas and some quotes from appreciated music. The 33-minute ride is one that doesn’t take the easiest route, but passes through different genres and instruments, and regularly strays off the beaten track – as if Captain Beefheart were at the wheel. Expect eclectic and artful garage rock with beatific and spellbinding lyrics set to repetitive and hypnotic rhythms. Cool that musicians who have already been through so much, still sound eager,  groundbreaking and magnetizing.

Summer Forever and Ever is out now digitally through In The Red Records.
