New EP: L.A. Sagne || L.A. Sagne

Perhaps a sign of the times – Dutch politics seems to be in permanent turmoil right with government struggling to fix crisis after crisis, but there seems to be a punk renaissance brewing in the Netherlands right now. We already covered The Covids this week, Asbest Boys come to mind as well, and here is another one: L.A. Sagne. What these bands have in common is that sonically and aesthetically they are classic punk throwback acts full of punk attitude. All three bands take different directions tough, and L.A. Sagne for now seems unwilling to stick with one specific side of punk. On certain songs they sound like the Dutch answer to Amyl and the Sniffers, on other songs they opt more for a late ’70s pop punk sound. For an example of the latter, listen to the massive hit Choosing Pleasure Over Happiness.

Looking forward to hearing more from this band from Amsterdam. They sure comes out of the gate firing all cylinders with their debut EP. Out now on cassette.
