New album: Excuses Excuses || Listen Up!

Questions asked on Listen Up!, the debut album by Canadian alternative rock trio Excuses Excuses: “What gives them the right to tell me // How I’m supposed to be?” (from Say); “When you think about yourself how does it feel?” (Feeling Sorry); “Do you know me anymore? Cuz I feel // Like a wandering ghost, lost in the crowd” (Meaning of Life). It’s clear what this record is about: “I’ve lost touch with who I wanna be, but // No matter what I say, it’s me who is the enemy”, according to the title track. Dark lyrics, set to heavy, passionate and energetic guitar music that is somewhere between Simple Plan, Billy Talent, Arctic Monkeys and Velvet Revolver. Fortunately, there’s light at the end of the tunnel, because ultimately Kyle Wilton (vocals, guitar), Trevor Bowman (bass) and Jason Nicoll (drums) want to encourage people to live their lives to the fullest potential in our restrictive, modern society: “Listen up, listen in // Don’t stop fighting // We can win if we believe we can.”

Listen Up! is out now digitally via Known Accomplice / Cadence Music Group.
