UK singer-songwriter Jack Francis has released his self-titled debut album, and it’s an impressive highlight in the Folk / Americana genre. The unprepared listener might think this is a forgotten 70’s classic from the US, albeit one that sounds remarkably fresh. The nine heartfelt songs on this soulful record are brand new, and it’s not difficult to immediately embrace them. It’s contemporary music with meandering melodies – sometimes understated, sometimes groovy – and honest lyrics, convincingly delivered by a wonderfully powerful voice.
