New album: Strange Colours || Future’s Almost Over

Do you remember The Deadly Snakes? The soulful garage R’N’B outfit from Toronto released a several albums two decades ago, with the first two produced by Greg Cartwright. Deadly Snakes drummer and guitarist Andrew Moszynski has a new band called Strange Colours together with fellow Canadians Ryan Rothwell, Chris McCann, and Jay Lemak.

Future’s Almost Over is the band’s debut. Judged by the band’s sound, a more apt title would be Future Never Happened, because the record is a throwback to the garage rock from a different era. With their dirty organ-filled sound, and avalanche inducing production, Strange Colours will surely appeal to the old school fan. I’ll stop writing, just listen: the records’ first two songs (Get In Line and The Phantom) offer a better introduction to this band than any reviewer could put into words. Those first 5 minutes of the record may very well be the best thing you’ll hear today.

Future’s Almost Over is out now on Slovenly.
