Sometimes, you can judge an album by its cover. The new Merrym’n album (More From Merrym’n) has the look of a postcard. And when you start listening to it, it’s actually like an old friend shares his adventures, thoughts and feelings in an eloquent and likeable manner that is easy to digest. Admittedly, 20 songs (70 minutes) of off-centre quirky folkpop may be a bit much for some, but in small doses, I find this to be a really enjoyable record. For example listen to the excellent album opener Statue Of Josiah (video below), the Ring Of Fire-esque Nello The Clown, or Jenny Greenteeth.
