Austin’s Chronophage deals in artsy post-punk and outsider pop that oozes cool and crackles with urgency. On their new EP, getting from A to B in Chronophage’s world is never a straight line, but somehow they always take the quickest, most interesting route—wasting zero seconds of your time while giving you the best possible ride. A track like Swords’n’Sandals is basically a soulful lo-fi pop hit, lifted by sweet keys and horn flourishes, and there are three additional tunes that feel like they’re locked in an eternal contest to outdo each other. Much to like about this one!
