Tip Top Nap is an indie four-piece based in Kyoto, Japan, featuring Atom (vocals, guitar), Yuta Ikeda (guitar), Yuma Murakami (bass) and Mizuki Ueyama (drums). AHAmoment is their sophomore EP, consisting of five compelling songs that fall somewhere between dream pop and shoegazesque rock. Jangly guitars and velvet vocals go together in rich structures with echoes from the 90s. Lyrics such as “街の灯り 滲む景色 // 君のいないハッピーエンド” need some translation, but—AHA!—they turn out to be as beautiful as hoped for: “The city lights, the blurred scenery, a happy ending without you.”
