Their debut LP Feel A Bit Free was one of my favorite discoveries of 2020, and now the day job dreamers of Detroit, Michigan-based alt-country outfit Loose Koozies are back with their sophomore album, titled Passing Through You. E.M. Allen (vocals, guitar, mellotron, organ, synthesizer, field recordings), Pete Ballard (pedal steel), Audrey Moran (lead guitar), Erin Davis (bass) and Nick German (drums) deliver fourteen original songs centered around personal experiences and the life lessons that can be learned from them. Sometimes rocking with intense guitar riffs, then subdued with a meandering pedal steel—a bit more room for some electronic experimentation in between—but always with those heartfelt vocals, only interrupted by two short instrumentals and a barking dog in the background.
